Game Writer
with Neil Kimball
Lila is a lifelong video game player (she played Animal Crossing on the Gamecube before it was cool/everyone’s pandemic escape!). Lila has always been drawn to the storytelling possibilities of games. She has over a decade’s worth of experience writing for animated TV, including Guillermo del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia trilogy (Trollhunters, 3Below and Wizards), as well as shows for a multitude of toy properties – Mattel’s Monster High, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and Polly Pocket, and LEGO’s Hidden Side. She has joined forces with her husband Neil to write on Spin Master’s Unicorn Academy, and to write video games.
Neil is a writer and game designer with a background in tabletop board games, miniature games and RPGs. He has worked at Mattel and most recently at AEG (Alderac Entertainment Group) where he published his game Sheepy Time and worked as a Game Developer for Whirling Witchcraft, Wormholes, and Waffle Time. When designing games, Neil’s favorite part is considering how his designs can evoke emotions in the player. His games all have strong narrative components that have players making choices that create branching storylines.
Lila Fun Facts!
Lila and Neil are pet-parents to a one-eyed rabbit, Captain Maddi, who hates people. Unless you have some apple slices to give her. Then she’ll come running!
Lila is growing a tree from the pit of a random avocado she ate in November 2023. She named the tree Avoclaudo and he is currently just shy of two feet tall.
Neil Fun Facts!
Neil was a fierce competitor at the Game of Thrones Card Game. He got Top 8 at the World Championships multiple times!
As a child, Neil moved to Atlanta, GA but refused to pick up a Southern accent. It mostly worked, except when he says the word “melk.”
